Shop's design for online retailer Shopbop's new office created a loft-like space that feels organic, yet perfectly adapted for a cutting-edge fashion brand. The design accomplished this by using materials and finishes throughout, and providing contrast through highly polished elements that were added to accent the space. Color, material, and finish choices were played against one another: warm tones against neutral, rough textures against smooth, and muted surfaces against shiny. The existing space was stripped in order to reveal raw concrete floors and columns and to expose the ceilings. Additional industrial material, such as blackened metal and reclaimed paneling were added to reinforce the roughness of the existing architectural shell.
