Blumarine: Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

If you saw Blumarine's Fall/Winter'12 RTW Collection you will find these pictures familiar, if you didn't here is a small preview of the collection. The show began with five fluorescent lamb coats color-matching a big fur bag. This beautiful mongolian fur bag caught our attention since the moment we first saw it, for it's size and colors. The bag was featured in five electric colors: yellow, pink, green, purple and aqua, and more calm tones like, white, grey and a nude pink. The bag is very futuristic, but we are loving it, big and fluffy! We are pretty sure that this F/W'12 fur bags and fur coats will continue to be a huge trend. The question is, are you ready to wear your furs in bright electric colors?

Hermes & Hiroshi Sugimonto

French fashion house Hermes has been working on their third edition project for Hermes Editeur. Where they invite artists to bring new ideas and creations to make a limited edition scarf line. For their third edition they invited Hiroshi Sugimoto, an important Japanese artist.


From 2009 to 2010 the artist worked on a artwork titled Colours of Shadows, which consisted on taking long exposure shots of cinema screens. The vibrant and colorful photos were achieved by letting light through a prism. He created a whole series of Polaroids with various color combinations and shadows, from which Hermes selected 20 of them to print them on silk scarves using a ink jet printer. Each scarf will retail for around $8,860.

Suno Sneakers

We just discovers some really cool sneakers by Suno. Suno is a New York based women's label founded in 2008. Their first small collection was created from vintage Kenyan textiles and was produced in Kenya.


Since it's inception, Suno has evolved it's business to include production in Kenya, India, Peru and it's home base of New York. Via a combination of traditional, local techniques and high-end tailoring, as well as emphasis on fit and fabric, Suno is able to offer a global unique view of the luxury world in an accessible way. 


We are huge fans of Suno, they have the most amazing prints and patterns in their shoes, don't you think? The best part is that all of their shoes are made from recycled rubber and 15% of every purchase is donated by Suno to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a Kenyan preservation devoted to the protection of endangered elephants and rhinos. Each pair of sneakers comes in a cute drawstring carryon pouch so you can pack them or store them easily.


Suno is avaibale in more than 60 retailers worldwide, including Barney's New York, Opening Ceremony, Ikram, Browns Focus, and Lane Crawford.

Books: Helmut Newton SUMO

The most expensive book production in the 20th century is Helmut Newton's SUMO book. This limited edition book will print 10,000 copies worldwide, each signed and numbered by Helmut Newton. Includes a book holder designed by Phillip Starck.

Besides being the most expensive production book in the 20th century this book is a "titanic book" the book measures 50 X 70cm (20X 27.5 inches) and weights approximately 30kg (66lb), the book contains 464 pages, making it a truly unique publication.

Sumo was edited by June Newton, Helmut Newton's wife. The book features a wide selection of pictures, most of them published for the very first time, covering every aspect of Newton's outstanding career in photography. Helmut Newton was one of the most influential photographers of all time, we really admire his work and his influence in fashion.

Nordstrom Store Opening in NYC!

A few day ago Nordstrom announced their first flagship store in NYC. How exciting! The store will be located in a 285,00 square foot space on the ground level of a tower to be built by Extell Development Co. at 225 West 57th Street near Columbia Circle and Carnegie Hall. The store will open its doors in 2018, they have along way to go but we are pretty sure that they will be very successful in NYC just like they have been in the rest of the country.

Balenciaga: Florabotanica

Balenciaga is releasing a new fragrance "Florabotanica" this September. Actress Kristen Stewart is the face of Balenciaga's new fragrance. The fragrance is Nicolas Ghesquiere's second for the label. Balenciaga told him to pick out a face with a "young consumer" in mind, because that's the target demo for the fragrance. He based the scent on a 2008 collection that features "nasty" and "nice" flowers. The key notes of the scent are vetiver, amber and calcium-lead accord, a hybrid rose, carnation and mint accord. 


We fell in love with the bottle design, inspired by a laboratory bottle in which striped tubes can be dipped to cull the botanical gardens extract. 

Collaboration Culture

You can't miss the new seven part series on BBC World News, Collaboration Culture where they pair fourteen creative and celebrated figures from the world of fashion, dance, music, food and art and invite them to collaborate on a new innovative project. 


On their second series Argentine fashion textile designer Martin Churba travels from his home Buenos Aires to Mumbai, to meet milliner, stylist and artist Shilpa Chavan and work together for Collaboration Culture project. 


Chavan takes Churba around Mumbai, to her favorite and liveliest streets, both are inspired by urban life, and they create a series of outfits combining their ideas and love for fashion, which are later photographed against the city background.
