The debut of Milly's inaugural campaign will make this a memorable season for the brand's creative captain Michelle Smith. After the line's successful stint with Banana Republic, and the opening of its major flagship location on NYC's Madison Avenue, it was about time.
Art director Alex Wiederin and photographer Cedric Buchet joined forces for the fall 2013 campaign to capture the Milly girl's edgier side and highlight the brand's ready-to-wear range and new iridescent handbag offering, modeled by French newcomer Loulou Robert who brought in her own je ne said quoin. The result: a perfect fusion of Milly's futuristic makeover and persistent element of downtown cool.
Of the premiere images, Smith said, "Although I consider myself a die-hard New Yorker, I began my design career in Paris, training for several years at legendary fashion houses such as Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior Haute Couture. Therefore, Milly has always has en element of New York meets Paris.
The founder and head designer also described her collection's modernized turn: "They include dresses, skirts and pullovers in luminous colors and holographic finishes, which capture the breadth and the modern evolution of my collection."
