Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld created a film called Once Upon a Time about the early career of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel.
The film imagined her first day of business in the seaside town of Deauville, France in 1913, three years after she had opened her boutique in Paris. The inhabitant of the town were are very chic, but Chanel wanted to show them a new style of dressing.
The film was based both in fact and fantasy, "imagined" and directed by Mr. Lagerfeld, who is very clever and asked many of his famous friends to join in his filmic adventure.
He persuaded Keira Knightly to play Coco, and models Lindsay Wixon and Stella Tennant to play some of her society clientele, ready to shop up a storm of this lucrative first day.
