Keith Haring was born in Pennsylvania in 1958. He developed a love for drawing at a very early stage learning basic cartooning skills from his father and from the popular culture around him like Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney.
He enrolled in the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburg, a commercial arts school. He soon realizes that he had little interest in becoming a commercial graphic artist and, after two semesters, dropped out. Hearing continued to study and to work on his own and in 1978 had solo exhibition of this work in Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Center.
Keith had a fruitful career, during the 80's. Haring's work was featured in over 100 solo and group exhibitions. In 1986 alone, he was the subject of more than 40 newspaper and magazine articles. He was considered a great artist that was not afraid to express his thoughts to the world.
Haring died of AIDS in 1990 at the age of 31. Today his work can be seen in exhibitions and collection of major art museums around the world.
